It’s Tuesday so that means there’s a new Dairy Free Daisy podcast over on Spotify and Apple ready for you to listen to.
In today’s episode we’re talking about non dairy ice cream. It’s come a long way since the early days of lemon sorbet being the only dairy free option. Now the supermarkets are packed full of dairy free options from big and small brands alike.
A friendly reminder to always double check ingredients in accordance to your allergies, intolerances and ethics. Ingredients and may contain warnings can also change over time.
You can subscribe to the Dairy Free Daisy podcast on Spotify or Apple for uploads every Tuesday.

Swedish Glacé Dairy Free Ice Cream
Swedish Glacé are part of the Walls brand. They have a good selection of classic flavours including vanilla, chocolate and raspberry – all are delicious. They also have a range of Vanilla & Strawberry Cones, Smooth Vanilla Sticks and Toffee Cones.
We often have the vanilla tub in our freezer because we like making affogatos with it.

This brand is much more affordable than other non dairy brands with a general price point of £2.50
Ben & Jerry’s Non Dairy Ice Cream
Ben & Jerry’s Non Dairy ice cream has got to be one of my favourite dairy free ice creams. I don’t think there’s any difference to the regular dairy filled ice cream. To be honest, I’d go as far as saying the dairy free option is better. It’s an excellent place to start if you’re just switching to a dairy free life.
I really like the Berry Revolution, Netflix & Chilled, Cookie Dough and Chocolate Fudge Brownie. That leaves 3 more flavours; Salted Caramel Brownie, Colin Kaepernicks Change the Whirled and Save Our Swirled NOW and honestly, I shouldn’t have picked favourites because they’re all good.
They have SO MANY amazing Non Dairy Ben & Jerry’s flavours available in America. Check them out at your own risk.
Pricing can be between £4-£6 however they’re usually on offer for £3.50 at one of the supermarkets so be sure to shop around.
Full non-dairy product line-up.
Buy Non Dairy Ben & Jerry’s at Tesco, Sainsbury’s, ASDA, Morrisons, Waitrose and Ocado. They’re always on offer at one of the supermarkets.
Vegan Magnum
Mangum have created a delicious vegan version of their regular dairy filled ice creams. I think these are just as good as the regular version. They have super thick and creamy ice cream on the inside and then the chocolate shell has the classic Magnum ‘crack‘ when you bite into it.
They currently have 4 options to pick from – Vegan Classic, Vegan Almond, Sea Salt Caramel and Minis. My favourite has got to be the Almond ones but I also love the Mini options because they last a little longer in the freezer.
I actually had one of these today at Wimpole. It’s brilliant to see dairy free options out in the wild.
You can often find these on offer but they’re generally between £3-£4.
Buy vegan Magnum’s at Tesco, Sainsbury’s, ASDA, Morrisons, Waitrose and Ocado.
Wall’s Cornetto Vegan & Gluten Free Ice Cream
Wall’s Cornettos are another big brand that have entered the vegan (and gluten free) market. I think these are nice, not exactly the same as the original but still a pretty good alternative. The ice cream seems to be much sweeter than the original. However, the main difference is the super crunchy cone. While it’s not bad, it is different and that’s because it’s gluten free. I think if they were to offer a strawberry or mint flavoured ice cream then there would be less of a difference when it came to the ice cream flavour.
Vegan Cornettos come in around £3 but are always on offer for about £2.
Buy Wall’s Vegan Cornetto’s at Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose and Ocado.
Wicked Kitchen Ice Cream
Wicked Kitchen is a brand exclusive at Tesco.
They have a good selection of ice cream including flavours such as Mint Chocolate Chip, Birthday Cake, Cookie Dough as well as Chocolate & Red Berry Cones, Chocolate & Almond Sticks and Berry White Sticks.
My favourite flavour from Wicked Kitchen is the Mint Chocolate Chip. It’s the best by far. If you like a strong minty flavour with a good chocolate swirl then you’ll love this one.

Jude’s Vegan Ice Cream
Jude’s Vegan Chocolate Brownie is a super rich, chocolatey and indulgent ice cream. I tried it the other week for the first time because it was on offer at Tesco and it certainly won’t be the last time I buy it.
They also do Salted Caramel Sticks, Belgian Chocolate Sticks, Vegan Vanilla Bean, Vegan Salted Caramel as well as Vegan Low Calorie ice cream.
A tub of Jude’s Vegan ice cream is usually around £4.50 but they can often be found reduced to around £3.50.

Valsoia Chocolate & Cream Soya Ice Cream
Valsoia is an Italian brand that you can find on Ocado.
They have a really good selection of vegan ice cream which comes in at around £5-£5.50 but they always have a couple of flavours on offer for £3.50-£3.70.
I personally really like the Chocolate & Cream, Cherry & Cream and Tiramisu ice cream. I always buy these flavours when they’re on offer and I feel like I’m always telling people about the Valsoia Tiramisu ice cream – it’s just SO GOOD. However they also do Cashew Caramel Sticks, Soya Ice Cream Sticks and Ice Cream Sandwiches.
