There’s not long to go ’til it’s Easter because it’s so early this year. Saying that, the Easter eggs have been on the supermarket shelves since the end of December.
Today we’re taking a closer look at Morrisons. I used to shop at Morrisons a lot but here in Cambridge there isn’t one super close. I do try to get there once a month though because they always have a good selection of dairy free products.
For Easter, they only have one own-brand Easter egg but don’t worry, it’s a good one! The Morrisons Easter egg is a White Choc & Belgian Dark Chocolate With Butterscotch Flavouring & Sea Salt Easter egg. It’s part of their own Free From range which is free from gluten, wheat, milk and egg. The packaging is bright yellow and eye-catching so it really stands out on the shelf.

Some products may be free from dairy but could still be made on the same factory line as other dairy free products and over the years ingredients may change.
As I mentioned before, this is the only Morrisons own-brand Easter egg I could find. It’s a white chocolate and Belgian dark chocolate egg with butterscotch flavouring and sea salt. So, if you’re buying for someone who doesn’t generally like dark chocolate or you don’t like it yourself then DON’T skip this one. I promise, it’s lovely. The mix of white and dark chocolate along with the flavouring really balances the egg out to more of a milk chocolate style and not at all like a regular dark chocolate. It also doesn’t have that funny dairy free chocolate taste which makes a nice change for a supermarket own-brand Easter egg.
@dairyfreedaisy Yes @Morrisons ! Coming through with a truly delicious easter egg for 2024. I would be very happy to give this as a gift. Its creamy, full of flavour and very moreish. #dairyfreeuk #dairyfreeeaster #dairyfreechocolate #dairyfreemorrisons #dairyfreelife #dairyfreeeastereggs ♬ original sound – Dairy Free Daisy
This Easter egg was a real winner for me. The chocolate is really creamy, the butterscotch flavouring works so well and is different to the usual salted caramel chocolate you can often find down the ‘Free From’ isle in the supermarkets. I find butterscotch to have a more rich and deep flavour than caramel. I like that with this egg you can really taste the sea salt too because it just adds something a little extra to the flavour.
This Easter egg also comes with truffles, many of them seem to this year. They’re nice and its fun to get something alongside the egg but honestly, the egg is the star of the show.
Over on my Dairy Free Daisy Youtube channel there’s a new video all about the supermarket own-brand dairy free Easter eggs. I talk through the various options available and rank them all at the end.
